St Austell Brewery – Hicks Cornish Ale

A full-bodied Ruby Red premium bitter. Hicks in a bottle, in recent months, has undergone an ABV reduction – presumably to match it more closely to it’s cask brother and to take advantage of the resultant duty reduction too. This though has had little effect on the quality of the beer, with a beautiful biscuit malt flavour overlaid with toffee and raisin in the aroma. Dried fruit and bitter hops come through in the finish which is long and sumptuous.
